MotoTrac (mototrac.info) is a maintenance, MOT and running-cost tracker for cars and motorcycles, run in the UK. This page explains what information we keep, why, who helps us run the service, and your rights. MotoTrac is the data controller for your information under UK data protection law (UK GDPR).

What we store

We use this information only to run MotoTrac for you. We don't sell it, share it with advertisers or use it for marketing.

Why we're allowed to use it

Who helps us run MotoTrac

We use a small number of trusted companies to run the service. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.

Sign in with Google

If you choose Sign in with Google, Google tells us your name, your email address, that Google has confirmed that email address, and an ID number for your Google account. We use these only to create your MotoTrac account and sign you in. We don't get your Google password or access to your Gmail, contacts or anything else in your Google account. When you use the button, Google handles that sign-in under Google's privacy policy. You can remove MotoTrac's access at any time from your Google account (Third-party connections).

Emails

We email you about your account and the service only: confirming your address, password resets, sign-in codes, replies to your support tickets, MOT, tax and insurance reminders (Pro), changes to your plan, refer-a-friend rewards, and notices if your account hasn't been used for a long time. We don't send marketing emails.

How long we keep it

Cookies and storage

We use one essential cookie (mototrac_sid) to keep you signed in. Your browser also keeps a few small notes on your device, such as that you're signed in, a referral code you arrived with, map searches you've already made, whether you've closed the "install the app" message, and your best Pothole Dodger score. There are no advertising or tracking cookies and no third-party analytics. The sign-in pages load Google's sign-in button from Google, which may use Google's own cookies if you're signed in to Google.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to limit or object to how we use it, or to move it to another service. Contact us at the address below and we'll reply within one month. You can also:

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), but please talk to us first so we can try to put it right.
