Common questions
When is my MOT due?
In Great Britain a car or motorcycle needs its first MOT by the third anniversary of its registration, then every year. MotoTrac reads the expiry date from your latest MOT result.
How early can I get an MOT?
Up to a month (minus a day) before your current MOT runs out, and you keep the same renewal date. If it expires on 15 May, the earliest is 16 April.
What happens if my MOT runs out?
You can be fined up to ยฃ1,000 for driving without a valid MOT. The exception is driving to a pre-booked MOT, or to or from a repair.
How is this different from the GOV.UK MOT reminder?
GOV.UK will text or email you a month before your MOT is due. MotoTrac adds tax and insurance dates, your MOT advisories as a to-do list, and your service and fuel records in the same place.
Put your renewal dates on autopilot
Add your reg and MotoTrac picks up your MOT date straight away.
