Common questions
How do I work out cost per mile?
Add up what you spent (fuel, servicing, repairs and so on) over a period and divide by the miles you drove in that period. MotoTrac does this automatically from your logs. Our guide How much is my car costing me each month? shows how to do it by hand.
Why is my real MPG lower than the official figure?
Official figures come from a standard lab test. Short trips, cold weather, traffic, roof boxes and tyre pressures all change real-world economy, which is why tracking your own figure is useful.
Does it include insurance and tax?
You can record those dates, and the cost guide shows how to add yearly bills into a monthly figure.
